I started before 9 am this morning, the temperature was only 1 degrees celsius when I left home on 80 meters above sea with my rucksack. I walked to the Voss Folkemuseum which is at 180 meters.
I found the path going up to Hanguren and it was easy to hike up the mountain. It did not feel cold at all and I enjoyed the nature, the water flowing down from the hills, flowers and bird songs. I reached the old Hanguren restaurant which is at 655 meters. From there onwards I followed the "car" road up to the top of Hanguren, which is at 818 meters.
Up on the top was empty as the Gondola was closed today. A few cars belonging to the people working but no other visitors. I had some snacks and warm tea in the icy cold breeze. It got very windy to I left the top and hiked downwards again.
On my long journey downwards I took a detour to Dagshytta, as I was very curious about this little hut. I wanted to check out the location and facilities there. On my detour downwards I hiked along the bog, wet marshland and my hiking boots got muddy in the wetness. It felt great to have really good boots as they either felt cold nor wet from the very wet and muddy marshlands.
It got wetter and while minding the path I forgot to look out for the sign to the Dagshytta. I was lucky to meet an old guy hiking and he helped me to find the correct path. I reach the beautiful Dagshytta and had a break again to eat more snacks and finish my tea in the bright sun, enjoying the views of snow-covered mountains on the opposite side and the view of the lake Vangsvatnet below.
The Dagshytta is a wooden cottage were you can rest and get warm but cannot sleep or stay overnight. It was a separate toilet too. Beautiful view and well-designed with enough space to sit around the cottage. It even has solar panels!
My path down the hill was beautiful, I met more people hiking upwards and downwards in the afternoon. The hiking trail got very wet, some of it was flooded with streams of water. Spring here means lots of water flowing downwards, water cascading in tiny waterfalls and streams.
I reached my starting point the Volksmuseum at 15.30 and rested for a while there, enjoying the views. I felt my knees on the downward path and realised that I need to strengthen the muscles around my knees. I am used to hiking in Stockholm and the landscape does not challenge me in the same way with the height differences. Overall today I have walked 30 000 steps and hiked ca 700 meters up and down in a moderate pace with many breaks for photo and enjoying the scenery. The animals I saw on the hike were small birds, a mountain hare and a few butterflies, sheeps grazing on the meadow near Voss Folkemuseum.
